Matt & Kelly's St. Lucia wedding plans

DIY Projects

Many things on this page have changed over the course of time.  I'm trying to keep it up to date with finished products.

Finished Products

Wedding day flip flops

These were pretty easy to make.  I just wrapped pink ribbon around the rubber straps and used E600 glue to secure each end.  I then glued rhinestones on each side.  I found the cute square rhinestones but wasn't sure how to attach them to the ribbon so I made a simple bow, attached the rhinestones to the bow and then attached the bow to the flip flops.  That worked well.

Guestbook

Picture
It has taken me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do for my guestbook.  I finally came across this cute idea. We will ask guests to write well wishes or advice on each page and then we will attach pics from our wedding.  I think this make it more personal and special.

Bride and Groom Sign -

Picture
These are for our chairs at the reception.  We are special. :)  I just used pink and silver card stock.  They were really easy to make.  Each one is half a sheet of paper in size.

Table Numbers

Picture
The table numbers and Bride and Groom signs mirror each other.  I knew I wanted the table numbers in frames though in case it is windy hopefully they will have enough weight to stay put.  I might add some 3D flowers to the frames but I haven't completed decided right now.

Bridal Suite & DND sign

Picture
When I saw this idea I knew I had to make one for myself.  After a little searching I decided I wanted to make a bridal suite and do not disturb sign but I wanted to make them interchangeable.  Since space will be limited I figured less is more.  I made the sign so that the DND and Bridal suite signs could just slide into place with one on top of the other.

I wish I'd seen the pink and gray combo before I did this or it would be the same as the above signs.  Oh well.

Cake topper

It is now FINALLY finished.  I now understand why people pay for these.  Ughh, it takes a while to hand glue each rhinestone.  The rhinestones are a pale pink.  I hope it looks nice on top of the cake. :)

Day of Hoodie

Finished day of hoodie.

Hair Flower

Picture
Veil is out and hair flower is in.  I found this adorable hair flower from Etsy seller TheGirlyTutu.  So far she has been great to work with.  I ordered my hair flower in pink.  I can't wait to get it.

*Edit, here is a pic of the flower.  Not necessarily the wedding hair. :)

Finished veil

Picture
Today I finished my veil/hair flower.  I used hot-fix rhinestones on the tulle (which was a pain).  My hair flower already had a pin opinion and a hair clip when I bought it.  I was able to just attach the tulle to the pin and I can use the hair clip to hold in place.  I'm pretty impressed with how it turned out.  :)

Bouquet

Picture
I love love love my bouquet.  I bought a dozen pink peonies from Angel's Accents.  A family friend put everything together for me.

Just for fun

I made a key chain.

And a few other random things I've made for the wedding.

Monogram Hangers

Picture
I made one for me, my mom, my fmil.  I think I am going to make one from my cousin who is getting married in the fall but I haven't made hers yet.

Undies

Picture
I finally made these.  I just got some cute pink undies from VS and the decal is from Michael's.  The decal was $1.00 and iron on.  I think these turned out super cute and I can't wait to wear them on my wedding day.

My flying t-shirt

Picture
While I was at Michael's looking for my "I DO" decal I found this cute "tying the knot" decal.  Since it was only $1.00 I decided to put this one on a shirt.  I found the shirt for $6.00 at H&M.  I will wear this the day we head to St Lucia because the big white dress bag won't give away my bride status ;)

*I would suggest heating the decal's a little longer then the 10-12 secs.  I had to heat mine several times.  And I would definitely let them cool before trying to peel the plastic cover off.  Just go slow and re-iron if any of the studs look like they are not stuck.
